As one of Europe’s leading indoor crane manufacturers, ABUS extended its headquarters in Gummersbach (Germany) with the construction of an exhibition- and training centre. It features several open spaces which are to be used as an open-air cafeteria or as an event area for company celebrations.

The location on a wind-exposed crest of a hill caused ABUS to make use of Weatherpark’s advisory services. A wind comfort diagnosis of the free areas led to interactive development of measures among owner, architect and Weatherpark. In this way, many trees and some glass balustrades were planned jointly in selected positions to protect sensitive open areas from squally winds from the Bergisches Land.
