In Vienna’s urban development area aspern – Vienna’s Urban Lakeside, the tallest high-rise timber building of the world is being built.
The “HoHo Wien” will be constructed of 75 percent of wood and, at a height of 84 m, will even surpass the Ringturm in downtown Vienna by eleven meters. This 24-storey building was planned by Rüdiger Lainer + Partner ZT GmbH architectural practice.
On behalf of the cetus Baudevelopment GmbH development company, Weatherpark’s experts advised the architects regarding the planning of comfortable open spaces, including, for example, canopy constructions offering sufficient wind protection and the right choice and positioning of trees.
The basis for this interactive process was the wind comfort study of the masterplan for the new urban district “aspern – Vienna’s urban lakeside”. The purpose of this study was to align the buildings so that they provide as little surface to the wind as possible.
